Our mission is to reflect God's justice, love and righteousness for people in all parts of the world by addressing, through social action, the concerns and conditions which affect their quality of life. Our task is to involve the congregation in spreading the gospel through witness and service throughout the world.
We are "God's Hands on Earth". Below are listed some of our "hands-on" mission and service opportunities during the upcoming year where we can reach out and make a difference. All are welcome, and indeed needed, to join us to help serve the many needs of our less fortunate neighbors. Please contact the church office for more information.
Farm Gleaning
Join the South Church ?Glean Team?. We hand gather crops left in the field and orchards after harvest. The salvaged produce is then given to the hungry in our area through the Foodshare organization.
MACC Shelter Volunteering<br> The Manchester Area Conference of Churches performs countless vital ministries in our community. Work with other South Church volunteers serving meals and assisting at the homeless shelter.
Crop Walk
Once each spring we walk together in downtown Manchester to raise funds to help combat hunger in both our own community and around the world.
Foster Family Support
On the third Tuesday evening of each month, the foster family support group meets at our church. We help by providing babysitting.
Christmas in April
Help a local family repair, improve and beautify their home. On the last Saturday in April, we rake, paint, etc (no experience necessary) and then picnic with other Manchester volunteers at Northwest Park.
Giving Tree at Buckland Hills Mall
Work with other volunteers to staff the tree area, provide information and accept gifts donated from the community. Sponsored by MACC, the Manchester Area Conference of Churches.
Seasonal Sharing Baskets
Groceries for holiday baskets are collected, assembled, and distributed to families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Volunteers help pickup, sort, pack and deliver baskets.
Habitat for Humanity
Help build a house and provide safe, affordable and decent homes as we seek to eliminate poverty housing. Building skills or experience are not necessary.
Heifer Project Live Animal Fair
Volunteers set-up and staff our annual fair. Help send sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, etc. to needy families around the world, helping them feed and clothe themselves and improve their living conditions.
