BECOMING A MEMBER
Membership Classes are held several times a year. The dates and times are announced through our Sunday morning bulletins and the Challenge. They are for anyone desiring to know more about the United Methodist Church in general and South Church in particular. They are also for those wishing to unite in membership with South Church through profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith or transfer.

PRAYER REQUESTS
Prayer requests can be called into the office, 647-9141, or added to the list of prayer concerns/celebrations on Sunday mornings in the reception hall.

A pray chain that consists of an email group and a phone chain is also available. The purpose of the Prayer Chain is to activate the power of prayer in response to crisis oriented requests that develop between Sundays. If you would like to activate the prayer chain, call 647-9141.

BAPTISMS
Baptism is a sacrament of the church. Therefore, baptized members of the church and their families are invited to reflect upon the grace of Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of sin, and the covenant between God, the community of faith, and the person being baptized.

The United Methodist Church practices both infant and adult Baptism. If you would like to be baptized, or would like for your child to be baptized, please call the church office to set up a meeting with one of our pastors.

FUNERALS AND MEMORIAL SERVICES
When a church member or other individual dies, the church community and family, with the officiating pastor, celebrate a Service of Death and Resurrection. Most funeral services are arranged through a local funeral home. However, if a memorial service is requested, the pastor will meet with the family to determine the time and date of the service. In celebrating the life of a deceased family member, the pastor consults with the family members for prayer and input regarding the service. Fees for funeral and memorial services are determined with the funeral home or at the time of the meeting between the pastor and the family.

WEDDINGS
Marriage is a sacred covenant that requires the couple to acknowledge and reflect on the role of God both in their wedding service and their married life. Couples interested in being married at South United Methodist Church are encouraged to attend and participate in the life of the church prior to their marriage. After attending worship, the couple may call the church office to set up a meeting with one of the pastors. Pastors will schedule weddings based on their availability, and the availability of the church building. Several sessions of pre-marital counseling are required beginning six months before the scheduled wedding. Dates and times of the pre-marital counseling session are determined between the pastor and the couple.

Wedding Fees:
$425 deposit required to reserve the wedding date
$200 due two weeks before the wedding
Total: $625
